NOVOSIBIRSK, October 26. /Dunyo IA/. The Center for Promotion of Uzbekistan Culture and Art “Meros” has officially opened in Novosibirsk, Russia, at a ceremony organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event brought together representatives of Novosibirsk’s public and political circles, local university rectors, heads of friendship centres, members of Uzbek diaspora communities from Tomsk, Kemerovo and Barnaul, as well as Uzbek nationals studying and working in the Novosibirsk region.

“Meros” has been officially registered in Russia and has become one of the major national cultural centres established in the Siberian Federal District. Participants noted that the centre would help local residents learn more about Uzbekistan’s centuries-old history, traditions, customs and contribution to world culture.

Designed in a traditional Uzbek style, the centre’s exhibition showcases the country’s cultural heritage, including national clothing, musical instruments, ceramics, pottery and other examples of decorative and applied arts.

The “Vatandoshlar” Public Foundation provided significant support for the exhibition by donating traditional clothing, musical instruments, ceramic items and other exhibits.

The opening of “Meros” is expected to expand opportunities for people across Siberia to discover Uzbek culture and strengthen cultural ties between Uzbek communities and local residents.
