“Al-Khabar Al-Youm”: Uzbekistan is becoming a key gateway for

CAIRO, October 8. /Dunyo IA/.   Egyptian publication “Al-Khabar Al-Youm” has published an article on the efforts of the Egyptian Commercial Representation to intensify trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that, at the direction of Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Egyptian Commercial Representation in Istanbul, which oversees trade relations with Uzbekistan, was tasked with organizing a working visit to Tashkent. During the visit, Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Ali Mohamed Pasha held a series of meetings and talks with the leadership of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, Agency for Attracting Foreign Investment, Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the administrations of Uzbekistan’s special economic zones. The parties reviewed existing projects and incentives and discussed opportunities for cooperation with Egyptian companies in the industrial and investment sectors.

According to the publication, as part of the visit, the Egyptian side visited the Turkish “OSTIM” Special Industrial Zone in Tashkent, where it learned about its experience in working with industrial companies and attracting investment. Following the talks, an agreement was reached to hold an Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum with the participation of companies and investment ministers from the two countries. The event will serve as a direct platform for bilateral business meetings and the establishment of joint projects. The participation of Egyptian companies will focus on textiles and garments, pharmaceuticals, building materials and contracting, as well as other sectors to be identified based on mutual interests.

Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Commercial Representation, noted that Uzbekistan has achieved significant growth over the past decade and that its economy is expanding markedly, opening up new opportunities for cooperation for Egyptian companies. According to him, thanks to its trade relations with countries in the region, Uzbekistan can serve as a bridge for Egypt’s economic expansion into Central Asia.
