ISLAMABAD, October 19. /Dunyo IA/. Leading Pakistani media outlets are giving extensive coverage to Uzbekistan’s initiatives to develop interconnected tourist routes among Turkic states, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
In particular, articles entitled “The Turkic World: One of Eurasia’s Most Attractive Tourism Destinations” have been published in popular print media outlets, including “Daily Financial Time”, “The Daily Morning News” and “The Daily News Lark”, as well as on the online platforms “The Azb” and “Imroze Pakistan”. The publications emphasise that since Uzbekistan joined the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in 2019, tourism cooperation has grown steadily, driven primarily by the establishment of the OTS Tourism Council and regular dialogue between the relevant government agencies.
Publications identify the unified tourist route, “The Great Silk Road”, as a prominent example of practical cooperation. It connects major historical and cultural centres of Turkic civilisation, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Baku, Almaty, Bishkek and Ankara. Other key areas of cooperation include training qualified professionals through academic exchanges and joint research with leading universities in OTS member states, as well as liberalising visa procedures and promoting visa-free travel among member states.
In conclusion, Pakistani media note that systematic efforts to establish a common tourism space are contributing to steady growth in tourist flows. In particular, the publications report that more than 6.15 million visitors from the OTS region travelled to Uzbekistan in 2025, highlighting the Turkic world’s growing role as a driver of economic development, cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy.
