Donald Trump Warns of Impeachment if Republicans Lose Midterm Elections

WASHINGTON, August 23. /Dunyo IA/. U.S. President Donald Trump said Democrats could impeach him if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“I will be impeached. They are going to impeach me. They have no idea why,” Donald Trump said at a rally with supporters in South Carolina.

Donald Trump returned to the White House for a second term after winning the November 2024 election and was sworn in on January 20, 2025. His current term is scheduled to end on January 20, 2029.

The statement comes amid challenges for the administration’s foreign policy. The war with Iran has reached a stalemate, talks on Ukraine and Gaza remain inconclusive, while rising gasoline prices and inflation have weighed on his approval rating. According to a “Reuters/Ipsos” poll, 33% of Americans approve of his performance.

If Republicans lose control of one or both chambers of Congress, it would make it more difficult for Donald Trump to advance his agenda during the final two years of his term.

The president has also repeatedly raised the possibility of seeking a third term. In recent days, he has again left the possibility open, although the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits anyone from being elected president more than twice.
