State Visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea marks a significant milestone in the history of friendship and special strategic partnership between the two countries

TASHKENT, September 16. /Dunyo IA/. Today, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will participate in the first “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” Summit in Seoul, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

State visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea marks a significant milestone in the history of friendship and special strategic partnership between the two countries, Sherzod Asadov, Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan, wrote on his telegram channel. - From the very first minutes, the exceptionally comprehensive program took place in an atmosphere of sincere cordiality, high honour and deep respect for the President and the people of Uzbekistan.

Central event of the visit was the talks with President Lee Jae Myung in both narrow and expanded formats. The leaders reaffirmed their mutual determination to elevate multifaceted cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

During the meetings with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik and Prime Minister Seong Sook Han, prospects for deepening interparliamentary ties, as well as trade, economic, investment, technological and transport-logistics cooperation, were outlined.

An important place in the program was occupied by the Uzbek-Korean Business Forum, the launch of joint projects and a series of substantive meetings of the Head of our State with the leaders of South Korean business giants and major financial institutions, including Export-Import Bank of Korea (Eximbank), Lotte, Hyundai, KIA, Hyundai Rotem, Shinhan, KIND, KIGAM, KIRAM and “Incheon International Airport Corporation”. The negotiations opened up new prospects for the implementation of large-scale investment and high-tech projects in Uzbekistan.

Primary economic outcome of the visit was the adoption of an unprecedented package of documents, comprising investment, trade, and economic agreements totalling $12 billion concluded at the business forum, alongside an $8 billion partnership program with the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

These agreements establish a solid foundation for attracting advanced technologies, developing industrial cooperation and forming comprehensive high-tech production chains. Their implementation will facilitate the creation of modern enterprises and new jobs, contributing to the growth of income and the well-being of the population.

Today, the program of the visit will continue with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the first “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” Summit. For the first time, Leaders of the five Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea will gather on a single platform in this format. This historic event is designed to elevate the long-standing interregional dialogue to a qualitatively new level, endow it with a systemic and long-term character and unlock new opportunities for peace, innovation and shared prosperity”.
