“Khyber Mail”: Uzbekistan expands digital cooperation with Turkic States

ISLAMABAD, October 3. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistan’s popular publication “Khyber Mail” has published an article on digital cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Turkic states, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Turkistan on May 15th, 2026, demonstrated the growing importance of digital technologies. At the meeting, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development”, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward initiatives to establish a strategic cooperation network in the field of artificial intelligence, advance cloud and quantum computing technologies and create a unified digital space.

“President of Uzbekistan proposed developing the “Digital Turkic Corridor Concept”, aimed at connecting data centers across the region through high-speed communication channels, as well as holding a Technology Forum in Tashkent with the participation of the OTS member states”, publication states.

In addition, at the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkistan, President of Uzbekistan called on the Organization’s member states to join the Joint Venture Fund being established by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to finance promising youth startups, innovative developments and AI-based solutions.

Initiative envisages an approach focused not on the fragmented development of national startup ecosystems, but on bringing them together through capital, expertise and access to markets.

According to “Khyber Mail”, the first Technology Forum of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Tashkent as part of “ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026”, at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan. Initiative to hold the OTS Technology Forum in Tashkent with the participation of the Organization’s member states was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan in May 2026 at the informal summit of the OTS in Turkistan.

Forum brought together representatives of leading technology parks and innovation agencies from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye.

As part of the Forum, a memorandum was signed between “IT Park Uzbekistan”, Innovation and Digital Development Agency of Azerbaijan, “Astana Hub”, “High Technology Park” of the Kyrgyz Republic and “Bilişim Vadisi”.

As noted in the concluding part of the article, for Uzbekistan, digital cooperation with the Turkic states extends beyond the IT business sector. E-government, telecommunications, data exchange and government information systems are becoming increasingly important areas of cooperation.
