SEATTLE, July 12. /Dunyo IA/.  Consul General of Uzbekistan in Seattle Akhror Burkhanov, met with Fred Lundahl, a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer and the founder of the “Music for the Eyes” cultural and trade house located in the city of Langley of Washington, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Fred Lundahl and his spouse, Sharon Lundahl, served at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent from 1997 to 2001. The years they spent in Uzbekistan and Central Asia as a whole were not merely a period of diplomatic service, but a time that left a profound impact on their lives, fostered by strong ties of friendship with the peoples of the region, a sincere reverence for its rich cultural heritage, and unforgettable memories. It was precisely these sentiments that inspired the couple to establish the unique cultural space “Music for the Eyes” in Langley.

Today, despite the thousands of kilometers separating it from Central Asia, this center has become a unique corner embodying the spirit of the region, and above all, Uzbekistan. It showcases Uzbek national chapans, suzanis, ikat fabrics, traditional musical instruments, historical books, folk crafts and photographs depicting Uzbekistan. Each exhibit carries its own story, sparkling genuine interest among visitors in the culture and traditions of the Uzbek people.

During the meeting, Fred Lundahl shared memories of his work in Uzbekistan and his vivid impressions of Central Asia, speaking warmly of the friends he made during his years of service and his admiration for the region's rich cultural heritage. As it was noted, true diplomacy lies not only in developing interstate relations but also in strengthening friendship and mutual respect between peoples.

Sides also exchanged views on further popularizing the culture of Uzbekistan in the Pacific Northwest states of the U.S., developing cultural exchanges with the local community, and more actively promoting products made in Uzbekistan in the regional market.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to produce a documentary film dedicated to Fred Lundahl's diplomatic career and his rich lifelong memories associated with Uzbekistan. In addition, the parties agreed to expand the promotion of products made in Uzbekistan within Washington State and to organize a visit for Fred Lundahl to Uzbekistan.
