Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka expand export and investment cooperation

TASHKENT, July 12. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Sri Lanka, led by Aruni Ranaraja, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, met at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan during their visit to the country, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Parties discussed the expansion of trade and economic ties, attracting investments, developing direct contacts between entrepreneurs and implementing joint projects.
During the meeting, it was noted that cooperation between the two countries is reaching a new level. Tourism, the textile industry, information technology, pharmaceuticals, agricultural processing and the services sector were named as priority areas.
Parties also supported the initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The document will strengthen business ties and expand the organization of joint business forums and B2B meetings.
Sri Lanka invited Uzbek entrepreneurs to participate in the international exhibition “Sri Lanka Expo 2027” to find new partners and expand export opportunities.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on developing mutually beneficial cooperation between the business circles of the two countries.
