International Forum Honoring Amir Temur to be held in the UK Capital

LONDON, April 28. /Dunyo IA/.  Today, Embassy of Uzbekistan will host an international cultural and scientific event dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of Amir Temur - a great statesman, brilliant commander and enlightener, the founder of a powerful empire and one of the greatest figures in world history, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

From April 8th to 12th, 2026, an international scientific and practical conference was held in Tashkent and Samarkand, dedicated to the role and significance of the civilization of Amir Temur and the Temurids in world history and culture.

The next stage of the anniversary program was an international scientific and educational event held on April 22 in Madrid, with the participation of scholars, experts, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The upcoming event in London will be an important continuation of the large-scale anniversary celebrations.

The planned event symbolizes the continuity of the centuries-old intellectual and cultural dialogue between East and West.

A special place in the program will be occupied by speeches from representatives of leading national and international academic circles, experts, international organizations, and partner institutions.

During the discussions, featuring representatives from the OSCE and specialized UK law enforcement agencies, it is planned to discuss issues of international cooperation in the field of cultural heritage protection, combating the illicit trafficking of historical valuables, strengthening mechanisms for legal cooperation and preserving monuments of world civilization.

Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), noted: “The key highlight of the upcoming event will be the solemn ceremony of handing over illegally exported cultural valuables as a gift to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This action will serve as an important confirmation of the international community's support for the policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan to return to the Motherland a number of unique artifacts related to our country's history”.

The event will also feature the presentation of a new fundamental WOSCU publication from the series “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections” titled “The Manuscript Heritage of Central Asia in the Cambridge University Libraries”.

Doctor Firuza Melville, in collaboration with specialists from Uzbekistan, worked on this volume for three years.

The forum in London serves as further confirmation that the legacy of the great Temurids continues to unite peoples, countries and academic schools of the modern world.
