The 65th International Flower Festival, taking place in Namangan, not only unites art, nature, and human spirit around a shared sense of beauty, but also calls on representatives of different nationalities to mutual understanding and unity, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The festival is attended by tourists from CIS countries, representatives from around fifty countries across Europe and Asia, diplomats from dozens of foreign countries and international organizations, investors from foreign companies, high-ranking guests, cultural and artistic figures, as well as residents of the country.
Notably, at this year’s jubilee festival, an outstanding result was officially recorded on a global scale and recognized by the Guinness World Records in the category “Most flowers planted by a team in one month,” with the Namangan region being included in the Guinness Book of Records.
The official representative and judge of Guinness World Records, Sheida Subashi, also confirmed the record, noting that this colossal achievement is the result of a high level of solidarity and collective effort toward a common goal. She visited Namangan and acknowledged that the region has truly become a place of beauty and elegance.
Indeed, the current International Flower Festival is organized at a high level. All of this is the result of the united efforts of the hardworking people of Namangan. In the Guinness World Records category “Most flowers planted by a team in one month,” the minimum requirement was to plant one million flower seedlings. The residents of Namangan region managed to plant more than 29.4 million flowers in a single selected area within one month.
The Namangan Flower Festival, held since 1961, is today recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious tourism and cultural events not only in Uzbekistan but also in Central Asia.
A flower motor parade at the jubilee celebrations leaves a strong impression on many visitors. Guests enjoy a caravan of more than 300 vehicles, trucks, combines, tractors, and even cranes decorated with various flowers and national flags.
The festival, which will last from May 24 to July 12, attracts special interest not only through its flower exhibitions but also through a wide range of cultural, sports, scientific, and entertainment events.
International fashion shows “Fashion Days,” gala concerts, an open-air symphony concert, various exhibitions, and international forums dedicated to tourism, investment, and business are being organized. Major concert programmes featuring People’s Artists of Uzbekistan, including Yulduz Usmanova and Jenisbek Piyazov, have given festival participants unforgettable moments. In particular, meetings held at the Namangan regional administration with cultural and literary figures and diplomats from Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Iran discussed important bilateral issues.
The 65th International Flower Festival differs from previous editions in that it begins in local communities (mahallas). This year, all 754 mahallas of the region are participating in the festival. Every house, street, and neighborhood has been decorated with flower gardens. Among them, a competition titled “The Most Flowering and Well-Maintained Mahalla” is being held. According to the jury’s decision, winners will be duly awarded at the end of the festival.
Flower festivals are not just exhibitions or leisure events. They are unique celebrations demonstrating humanity’s love for nature, culture, and beauty. Around the world, such festivals attract millions of tourists and have become symbols of their respective countries.
Notably, the famous Keukenhof Tulip Festival in the Netherlands is considered one of the world’s most renowned festivals. Millions of tulips are planted annually, forming floral landscapes resembling true works of art.
The Hanami Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan is known for its tradition of viewing cherry blossoms. In the United States, the Rose Parade features vehicles decorated with millions of rose petals.
The Medellín Flower Festival in Colombia is distinguished by its folk traditions, where people carry large floral arrangements on their backs. The Chelsea Flower Show in the United Kingdom is regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious landscape design exhibitions.
It is important to note that organizers and participants of these prestigious international festivals are taking part in the Namangan International Flower Festival and closely observing the process. They express the view that “wherever we see a flower garden, we will remember Namangan.”
