ISLAMABAD, November 3. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani publication “NewzToday” and “NewzTodays TV” platform have published articles highlighting Samarkand’s rich history, unique architectural monuments and traditional crafts, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Entitled “Samarkand, Uzbekistan: Inside Amir Temur’s Silk Road Capital”, articles explore the ancient city’s place in the history of world civilization and its distinctive cultural and spiritual heritage.
Publications provide an overview of Samarkand’s 2,500-year history, noting that in ancient times it was known as Marakanda and served as one of the major trade and cultural centers along the Great Silk Road. They also highlight the city’s role in trade, science and cultural exchange.
Articles also describe monuments built during the reign of Amir Temur and the Temurid dynasty, including Amir Temur Mausoleum, Shah-i-Zinda ensemble and other historic sites.
“Architectural features of monuments built in Samarkand by Amir Temur and representatives of the Temurid dynasty later found expression in Mughal architecture in Pakistan and India, including Humayun’s Tomb and the Taj Mahal”, “NewzToday” reports.
According to the Pakistani media, the architectural designs used in Samarkand’s ancient monuments are also of considerable interest to the people of Pakistan. The articles pay particular attention to the scientific legacy of the great astronomer and statesman Mirzo Ulugh Beg and the observatory he established in Samarkand.
Publications also emphasise that the traditions of Samarkand paper-making, silk production and national crafts, including suzani embroidery, pottery and folk applied arts, have been passed down from generation to generation over many centuries.
This media project has once again presented Samarkand not merely as a city of ancient monuments, but as a historic centre that has made an immense contribution to the development of world civilization, science and culture.
