Parliamentary Friendship Groups of Uzbekistan and Estonia discuss issues of bilateral cooperation

TALLINN, March 13. /Dunyo IA/. With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Estonia, an online meeting was held between the parliamentary friendship groups of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Riigikogu of Estonia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The meeting was attended by Anvar Tuychiev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Environmental Issues of the Oliy Majlis, along with co-chairs of the parliamentary friendship group with Estonia. The Estonian delegation was led by Aivar Kokk, Chairman of the Riigikogu group for relations with Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, Aivar Kokk noted that Estonia views Uzbekistan as an important and promising partner in Central Asia and attaches great significance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
He also emphasized that the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan and the country's active foreign policy open new opportunities for deepening bilateral interaction. Within the framework of the negotiations, parties discussed regular meetings of parliamentarians, exchange of delegations and cooperation between specialized parliamentary committees.
Estonian delegation expressed readiness to share experience in lawmaking, digital public administration, e-government development and ensuring cybersecurity. Participants noted the importance of interaction within international parliamentary structures, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and agreed on further joint initiatives.
Furthermore, the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation was discussed, including educational and scientific exchanges and the holding of joint cultural events. Aivar Kokk also highlighted the potential for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, including in information technology, innovation, the digital economy, transport and logistics.
Following the meeting, Estonian delegation reaffirmed its interest in strengthening parliamentary dialogue and invited a delegation from the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, including business representatives, to pay an official visit to Estonia.
In this regard, a visit by Anvar Tuychiev to Tallinn is planned for the coming months, with optimal dates for the trip currently being finalized.
