ISLAMABAD, August 4. /Dunyo IA/. Popular Pakistani online publication “The World News” has published an article titled “Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan: Alliance as a Strategic Choice”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
“The state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Kyrgyz Republic marked the transition of relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to a fundamentally new level, - the introduction to the publication notes. – The principal outcome of the visit was the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations, between the two countries, which made it possible to elevate bilateral cooperation from the level of strategic partnership to an even higher level”.
An important institutional feature of this new stage was the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council. This body will serve as the highest platform for regular consideration of issues on the bilateral agenda and provide additional momentum to the implementation of the agreements reached.
It is noteworthy that the visit took place amid the intensification of regional dialogue. During his stay in Kyrgyzstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also participated in the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
As the publication emphasizes, in recent years a network of allied relations has been gradually taking shape in Central Asia. Following Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan became the third Central Asian country to officially establish allied relations with Uzbekistan.
This format of interaction envisages the formation of a regional space in which states jointly ensure stability, coordinate efforts to respond to common challenges and view security as a comprehensive concept encompassing political stability, economic development, transport connectivity, cooperation in the water and energy sectors and environmental security.
In conclusion, it should be noted that the significance of this visit is determined not only by the number of documents signed, but also by the fact that relations between the two states have reached a qualitatively new level. Allied relations create a long-term foundation for further rapprochement between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, opening up new opportunities for expanding economic cooperation, implementing joint infrastructure projects and strengthening humanitarian ties.
