BANGKOK, January 26. /«Dunyo» IA/. On January 22–23, Uzbekistan’s tourism potential was widely showcased in the capital of Thailand within the framework of the prestigious 31st Thailand International Travel Fair, «Dunyo» IA’s correspondent reports.

The General Consulate of Uzbekistan, together with the Bangkok representative office of Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbek tour operators, jointly organized a national stand featuring informational materials and tourism products highlighting the diverse travel opportunities of the country.

The exhibition brought together more than 600 exhibitors, including international and local airlines, travel agencies, tourism promotion organizations, and hotel chains, all of which presented their tourism products and promotional materials. Over the two days, the fair attracted approximately 150,000 visitors.

During the event, Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage, historical monuments, unique national architecture, traditional costumes, and examples of folk handicrafts were showcased. Uzbekistan’s national cuisine also generated significant interest among visitors.

The “Uzbekistan” stand drew particular attention by offering visitors the opportunity to try on traditional Uzbek costumes, allowing them to experience more closely the culture and spirit of the Uzbek people.

The stand also provided information on Uzbekistan’s role as one of the ancient centers of Buddhism in Central Asia. Despite the fact that the country’s population today predominantly practices Islam, ancient Buddhist sites—especially in the southern regions, including the city of Termez—have been preserved to this day. The Government of Uzbekistan’s policy aimed at the restoration and preservation of these historical monuments for the development of sustainable cultural tourism received high praise.
