AICHI-NAGOYA, October 25. /Dunyo IA/. Delegation of Uzbekistan achieved outstanding results at the 5^th Summer Para Asian Games held in Japan, concluding the competition with a historic success, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the competition featuring representatives from 45 countries of the continent, the national athletes demonstrated high skills across 11 sports, winning a total of 145 medals - 45 gold, 49 silver and 51 bronze - securing an honourable third place in the overall team standings.

This result marks the highest achievement in the history of Uzbek parasport. The fortitude, will, and determination of the athletes to win have further elevated the glory of the Motherland.

Para-athletes demonstrated exceptional prowess in track and field events, securing 20 gold, 21 silver and 23 bronze medals. Notably, the athletes of Uzbekistan succeeded in setting new World, Asian and Para Asian Games records across various disciplines.

During these Para Asian Games, athletes set 81 Asian and 27 World records. Concurrently, a total of 108 World and Asian records were broken during this competition. Representatives of Uzbekistan broke more than 15 World, Asian, and Para Asian Games records and established new benchmarks across various sports during the event.

The participation of Uzbekistan's para-athletes in the Para Asian Games demonstrates consistent growth over the years. In particular, the national team won 6 medals at the 2010 Guangzhou Games, 31 in Incheon in 2014, 70 in Jakarta in 2018 and 71 at the Hangzhou competitions in 2022.

Current achievement of 145 medals significantly exceeds previous results, clearly demonstrating the effectiveness of the ongoing efforts to develop parasport in the country.

Achievements reached by our athletes are the practical result of the conditions created for them, systematic training, and comprehensive support. In particular, widely involving youth with disabilities in sports, realizing their talent and creating opportunities for them to demonstrate their potential on the international arena are of paramount importance.

Historic result at the 5^th Para Asian Games confirmed the ever-growing prestige of Uzbekistan’s parasport on the international stage. Most importantly, these triumphs lay a solid foundation for future competitions.

We are confident that our para-athletes will achieve outstanding results at the Paralympic Games to be held in Los Angeles in 2028, as well as the 6^th Para Asian Games to be held in Doha in 2030, further raising the flag of our Motherland.
