Tourist arrivals from Japan to Uzbekistan surge 162% in 2025

• 104NAGOYA, January 20. /Dunyo IA/. An event themed “Tourism Potential of Uzbekistan” was organized in the Japanese city of Nagoya, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was held in collaboration with the Japanese travel company “Club Tourism International Inc.” and Keisuke Minami, Uzbekistan’s tourism ambassador to Japan and was attended by approximately 200 participants.
During the presentation, organized by diplomats of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, it was highlighted that in recent years, under the initiative of the country’s President, the tourism sector has been transformed into one of the key drivers of the national economy. Thanks to improved infrastructure, sector liberalization and favourable conditions for foreign visitors, Uzbekistan is gradually emerging as a regional tourism hub.
It was reported that as a result of the reforms, nearly 12 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2025. Notably, the number of Japanese citizens traveling to Uzbekistan for tourism exceeded 32,000 for the first time in the history of bilateral relations, representing a 162% increase compared with 2024.
As part of the presentation, participants were provided with information on Uzbekistan’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, the tourism potential of its regions, national traditions, cuisine and travel destinations of interest to Japanese visitors. Attendees were actively encouraged to visit Uzbekistan.
Director of the Nagoya branch of “Club Tourism International Inc.”, noted that in recent years, Japanese tourist interest in Uzbekistan has been steadily growing. He also highlighted the company’s work on developing new travel routes, including a planned program titled “Travel to Uzbekistan with Tourism Ambassador Keisuke Minami”.
In his address, Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador to Japan, renowned actor Keisuke Minami, spoke about the outcomes of his trip to Uzbekistan in August 2025, emphasizing the country’s tourism potential and its historical landmarks.
Additionally, a “Uzbekistan tourism corner” was set up at the event, where visitors could access tourist brochures and maps prepared in Japanese.
