The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Agency of Cinematography of Uzbekistan, with the support of “Casa Asia” - an organization that plays a vital role in fostering dialogue between Spain and Asian countries.
The choice of venue is no coincidence: “Cinemes Girona” is considered one of the city's prominent cultural locations, specializing in European and auteur cinema and regularly hosting international film projects and thematic screenings.
The premiere session brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, the cultural community, and the general public. The film was presented as part of an international project dedicated to the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur's birth.
As noted by the screenwriter, People's Writer of Uzbekistan Khayriddin Sultanov, work on the film spanned several years with the participation of an international team of specialists.
According to him, holding the premiere in Spain is particularly significant, symbolically reflecting the historical contacts between the two nations, including the visit of the Castilian ambassador Ruy González de Clavijo to the court of Amir Temur.
The film combines a historical foundation with artistic interpretation, raising themes of freedom, human dignity and the dialogue of cultures.
A modern storyline adds further depth to the narrative, revealing the significance of historical memory and its impact on the individual.
The screening took place in a warm atmosphere and evoked a vibrant response from the audience. Viewers noted the film’s rich content, expressive acting and the relevance of its ideas. After the session, guests continued their conversation in an informal setting.
As a reminder, premiere of the feature film “The Great Amir and Donna Maria” by Uzbek filmmakers was previously held in the Spanish capital.
