ТАSHKENT, September 18. /Dunyo IA/.    Today, as part of his ongoing trip to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the reconstructed “Turan” Stadium in Nukus, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, modernization of the complex has created new opportunities for developing grassroots and professional football in the region, selecting talented young athletes, and improving athlete training. The work was carried out in accordance with the objectives set out in the Presidential Resolution “On additional measures for the comprehensive development of grassroots and professional football” of April 7^th, 2023.

Total project cost is 118.6 billion UZS. The complex provides permanent employment for 85 people. As a result of the reconstruction, the stadium’s capacity has increased from 9,300 to 12,000 seats.

“Turan” Stadium serves as the home ground for the professional football club Aral. A total of 190 trainees from the Republican Football Academy regularly train and hold camps here. The complex also includes two sports halls and two additional stadiums.

For academy trainees, the complex includes a 196-bed residential facility, an 84-seat dining hall, gyms, and rooms for tactical analysis. In addition, the complex provides facilities for 100-150 athletes to train simultaneously in athletics, boxing, and taekwondo.

Stadium is equipped with dedicated platforms for media representatives, positions for installing offside cameras, and a separate area for a centralized VAR system. This infrastructure will enable high-level competitions and ensure high-quality coverage.

Head of State reviewed the conditions at the complex and provided recommendations and instructions for the further development of sports, particularly football, in Karakalpakstan.

President also spoke warmly with young athletes training at the stadium and posed for a commemorative photo with them.
