TASHKENT, September 29. /Dunyo IA/.  International BIPM–COOMET UTC Summer School has commenced in Tashkent, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event is organized by the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology in cooperation with the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and the COOMET Technical Committee on Information and Training (COOMET TC 4 “Information and Training”), with sponsorship from IEEE UFFC, a unit of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers specializing in ultrasonics, ferroelectrics and frequency control.

Held in Uzbekistan for the first time, the international summer school has brought together 31 participants from 25 countries, including 11 international experts serving as lecturers. The main objective of the event is to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of specialists in time and frequency metrology, which focuses on the precise measurement and comparison of time and frequency.

Participants are studying the realization, comparison and dissemination of UTC - Coordinated Universal Time - and UTC(k), national realizations of Coordinated Universal Time, as well as high-precision time and frequency measurements and ensuring their metrological traceability, that is, the demonstrable link between measurement results and the relevant measurement standards.

Programme includes lectures and practical sessions on atomic clocks, time and frequency transfer via GNSS - Global Navigation Satellite Systems - measurement uncertainty evaluation, statistical analysis and modern time and frequency technologies.

Summer school will run through September 30 and is aimed at exchanging international experience, developing scientific and technical cooperation, and enhancing the professional capacity of specialists from national metrology institutes.
