KYIV, September 24. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan plans to increase the installed capacity of wind power plants to 12,000 MW by 2030 and establish electricity storage systems in all regions, Minister of Energy Sherzod Khodjaev said, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

According to the minister, the parameters and operating modes of the energy storage systems will be tailored to the needs of major industrial consumers, taking into account regional electricity consumption patterns.

New wind power projects are planned for Karakalpakstan, as well as the Navoi, Bukhara, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions. The country also plans to increase the installed capacity of solar power plants to at least 7,000 MW by 2030.

The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to accelerate negotiations with investors and take measures regarding projects that are behind schedule. Investors will be selected through transparent competitive procedures.

According to the ministry, as of the end of 2025, Uzbekistan’s total installed power generation capacity stood at 24,700 MW. The combined capacity of solar and wind power plants exceeded 6,300 MW, while hydropower capacity amounted to nearly 2,500 MW.
