AICHI-NAGOYA, September 25. /Dunyo IA/.  Delegation of Uzbekistan continues to increase its medal tally at the 20^th Summer Asian Games taking place in Japan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the canoe sprint competitions, representatives of Uzbekistan won three silver medals. In the 500-meter kayak four (K4) event, Ekaterina Shubina, Arina Tanatmisheva, Milana Dyuchev-Yanish, and Shakhrizoda Mavlonova took second place. In the canoe C2 program, Shokhshanam Sherzodova and Nilufar Zokirova, and in the singles event, Vladlen Denisov won silver medals.

In the preceding days of the competition, athletes of our country also recorded a number of significant results. In athletics, Sharifa Davronova won a gold medal in the triple jump with a result of 14.35 meters, replicating her championship title from the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.

In artistic gymnastics, Utkirbek Juraev emerged victorious in the pommel horse event, scoring 14.733 points. In fencing, Zaynab Dayibekova secured a silver medal in the women’s sabre individual competition.

Uzbekistan national team achieved significant results in rowing as well. Shahzodbek Nurmatov and Sobir Safaraliyev claimed the gold medal in the lightweight men's double sculls (LM2x) event. Furthermore, representatives of the delegation won a number of silver and bronze medals across several other programs.

In the shooting competition, Vladimir Svechnikov scored 244.3 points in the 10m air pistol event, clinching the championship title and setting a new Asian Games record. This marks Uzbekistan's first Asian Games gold medal in this sporting discipline in 32 years.

Consequently, the Uzbekistan delegation commenced the sixth day of the competition with 6 gold, 15 silver, and 8 bronze medals. Today, our athletes will continue their performances in athletics, boxing, football, swimming, fencing, table tennis, canoe sprint, artistic gymnastics and other sports.

Later in the day, the men's national football team will face Saudi Arabia in the quarter-finals, while the women's national team will compete against the Republic of Korea for a spot in the semi-finals.
