SAMARKAND, September 24. /Dunyo IA/. National teams of Uzbekistan continue their contention for podium finishes at the 46^th World Chess Olympiad being held in Samarkand, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Progress of the tournament is being closely followed by the heads of more than 200 national chess federations and representatives from around 100 countries, with the matches widely broadcasted across online platforms and television channels.

In the 7^th round, the Uzbekistan-1 men's national team secured a 3-1 victory over the Chinese team, strengthening its position in the race for medals. Germany defeated Turkey 3-1, Netherlands beat Bulgaria 3.5-0.5, and Azerbaijan triumphed over Greece with the same score; the match between Armenia and the United States ended in a draw, while England conceded to India 1.5-2.5.

Uzbekistan-1 women's national team defeated Slovenia, taking a significant step in the competition for top spots. The Uzbekistan-2 men's national team played to a 2-2 draw against France, while Uzbekistan-3 defeated South Africa 3-1.

In the upcoming 8^th round, the Uzbekistan-1 men's national team will face Germany, Uzbekistan-2 will meet England and Uzbekistan-3 will play against Switzerland.

In the women's tournament, Uzbekistan-1 will compete against the Netherlands, Uzbekistan-2 will face Cuba and Uzbekistan-3 will play against Jamaica.
