Women Representatives of the “Türk Metal” Trade Union visit Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, July 8. /Dunyo IA/. A high-level delegation comprising women leaders from the “Türk Metal” Trade Union - recognized as one of the most influential and prestigious industrial labour institutions in the Republic of Türkiye - has successfully commenced a working mission to Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Esteemed delegation features prominent regional labour leaders: Melike Acar (Aksaray Province Women's Committee), Sevda Keskin and Zarife Yıldız (Ankara Province Women's Committee), Ms. Figen Koçak İldeş (Eskişehir), Yeliz Koç (Düzce), Berna Atabay (Gölcük), Nurten Çetin Yüksek (Kapaklı), Nilüfer Kutluca (Tuzla) and Türkan Özmen (Çerkezköy), among other distinguished delegates.
In accordance with the official itinerary, Turkish delegation was received at the Trade Union of Metallurgical and Machine-Building Industry Workers of Uzbekistan for high-level consultations. The interlocutors underscored the vital necessity of cross-border experience sharing on the amplification of women's leadership within trade union structures, alongside the robust protection of the occupational, legal and social rights of female employees in industrial plants and organizations. Special attention was dedicated to the institutional alignment of women’s engagement in labour syndicates and the progressive initiatives executed to support this objective.
In the course of the deliberations, the interlocutors also evaluated the socioeconomic status of female personnel engaged within the industrial sector, emphasizing the institutional responsibility of labour syndicates to guarantee their statutory rights and welfare. Delegates engaged in a comprehensive exchange of perspectives regarding the stature of women in the global labour market, identifying current systemic challenges and formulating strategic solutions. Upon the conclusion of the negotiations, contracting parties affirmed their commitment to fostering closer collaborative ties and broadening mutual expertise exchange, specifically designed to elevate the visibility and leadership of women within the international trade union movement.
In addition to their institutional engagements, the female delegates from the “Türk Metal” union embarked on a cultural immersion tour to experience the unique historical and cultural heritage of Tashkent and the ancient city of Samarkand, appraising their monumental architectural heritage and contemporary urban transformation. Delegates underscored that the profound history of Uzbekistan, the legendary hospitality of its citizens, the immaculate urban development, the timeless architectural magnificence of Samarkand's historical complexes, and the visionary modern landscapes of Tashkent resonated deeply with the entire delegation.
