TASHKENT, December 28. /Dunyo IA/. On December 25, a roundtable discussion was held at the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah with compatriots residing in the cities of Mecca and Medina, organized by a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olimjon Abdullaev, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the MFA, the event brought together Uzbek citizens working in international organizations, students and young scholars studying at leading higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia, as well as compatriots engaged in various professional fields.

At the beginning of the meeting, participants were congratulated on the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and on the occasion of the upcoming year 2026.

The participants were briefed on Uzbekistan’s entry into a new stage of development, the ongoing political and socio-economic reforms, and the priority nationwide programs being implemented. Particular attention was given to reforms in the religious and educational spheres, the preservation of national values, and efforts to improve and maintain sacred sites.

It was also emphasized that branches of leading foreign higher education institutions are being established in Uzbekistan, creating broad educational opportunities for young people.

During the roundtable, compatriots received explanations on compliance with the laws and regulations governing residence and employment in Saudi Arabia, followed by an open question-and-answer session.

Participants noted that the reforms underway have contributed to the growing international standing and reputation of Uzbekistan.

In addition, the delegation visited 35 Uzbek labor migrants employed in the Rabigh industrial zone by Turkiye’s AGCC company, reviewed their living and working conditions, examined their concerns, and provided the necessary clarifications and guidance.
