President of Uzbekistan reviews modern overpass on the Tashkent–Nurafshan highway

ТАSHKENT, July 22. /Dunyo IA/. Today, during his visit to the Tashkent region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the new overpass built at the intersection of the A373 highway and the Tashkent big ring road, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our State, new structure will help streamline traffic flows, improve road safety, reduce congestion, and shorten travel time between Tashkent and Nurafshan by 10–15 minutes.
Project, implemented on a 14.1-hectare site on the border of the Bektemir and Urtachirchik districts, cost 240 billion soums. It included the construction of a 66-meter-long, 46-meter-wide bridge, a 450-meter-long road tunnel, two U-turn lanes, four underground pedestrian crossings, and a 950-meter loop exit ramp. In addition, 9.5 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths were laid, eight public transport stops were equipped, 240 outdoor lighting poles were installed, and 6 kilometers of road barriers were erected.
With the commissioning of the new facility, the traffic capacity of this section will increase several fold to 130,000 vehicles per day. This will further improve transport links between Tashkent and the Tashkent region, reduce congestion, and provide more convenient travel for residents.
President was also briefed on the project's technical solutions, its traffic management capabilities, and plans to introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on the Tashkent–Nurafshan route.
