ТАSHKENT, November 3. /Dunyo IA/. Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed progress on the construction of a new tourism center in Bukhara, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our State, ancient Bukhara’s historic monuments, craft traditions and culinary heritage are a major draw for tourists. The new center aims to bring this rich heritage together with modern services and provide facilities for major international cultural and business events in the city.
In January this year, during discussions on Bukhara’s master plan, the President emphasized the need to align the implementation of cultural projects with tourism development, ensure their economic sustainability and provide effective management. The new center is also designed to bring together a range of services for the city’s guests in one location.
Center is being built on a 50-hectare site. A total of $105 million in investment is planned for the project.
According to the project, the site will include a reception house, an exhibition hall, a museum, two modern hotels, 80 family guesthouses, a 2,000-seat amphitheatre, and more than 70 retail and service facilities. Plans also call for promenades, handicraft centers and an artificial lake. The complex’s architectural design is intended to harmoniously combine Bukhara’s architectural traditions with modern solutions.
Work is currently underway on constructing engineering and utility networks across 10 hectares of the site. Around 50 units of specialized equipment have been deployed for the project.
According to forecasts, once the center is fully operational, it will create 2,000 jobs and increase tourist arrivals in Bukhara by 2 million people. Estimates suggest that annual revenues to the local budget could reach 288 billion UZS.
President emphasized that the project’s significance goes beyond building new facilities. It is important to create an environment worthy of Bukhara’s reputation as a center of science, enlightenment, trade and craftsmanship for centuries, while showcasing its rich heritage to the wider world. Every visitor to the new center should be able to experience the historical spirit of the ancient city and witness its modern development, while residents should benefit from new jobs and income opportunities generated by tourism. The officials responsible were instructed to implement the project with these objectives in mind.
During the visit, President also received reports on preparations to develop Bukhara’s infrastructure ahead of the summits scheduled for 2027 and gave relevant instructions.
