Human rights structures of Uzbekistan and China agree on cooperation

TASHKENT, May 14. /Dunyo IA/. Today, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Tashkent between the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NCHR) and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The document was signed by the heads of the NCHR and CFHRD, Academician Akmal Saidov and Li Hongkui.

The signing took place within the framework of the “China – Central Asia” Human Rights Development Forum held in Tashkent.

The preamble of the document reflects the parties' desire to strengthen friendly relations, expand the exchange of experience and cooperation in the field of human rights and promote the development of human rights between Uzbekistan and China.

Concurrently, parties will carry out cooperation in the promotion and protection of human rights based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual interest.

In particular, the memorandum provides for:

·   Conducting joint research on human rights issues;

·   Implementing educational programs and disseminating knowledge in the field of human rights;

·   Developing mutually beneficial exchange of information;

·   Organizing joint scientific seminars and conferences;

·   Assisting in the fulfillment of the international obligations of the two states in the field of human rights;

·    Participating in the improvement of global governance in the field of human rights.

Document also defines the forms of practical interaction between the parties. This refers, in particular, to the exchange of information, legislative acts, analytical materials and specialized literature in the field of the promotion and protection of human rights, as well as the exchange of experience in fulfilling international obligations.

In addition, the implementation of joint scientific programs and socially significant projects, the organization of visits and internships for staff and the holding of international conferences, seminars, “round tables” and training programs on human rights issues are provided for.

The parties intend to pay special attention to the preparation and publication of joint works, as well as to strengthening international cooperation in the field of human rights.
