Samarkand Region of Uzbekistan and Belarus discuss joint projects in the textile industry

MINSK, August 13. /Dunyo IA/.  A delegation of the Samarkand region, led by Khokim Adiz Boboev, met with the Chairman of the Belarusian State Concern for Production and Sale of Light Industry Goods “Bellegprom”, Nadezhda Lazarevich, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Negotiations were also attended by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Mamajonov. Heads of leading Belarusian and Uzbek enterprises, including “Svitanak”, “8 Marta”, “Gronitex”, “Mogotex”, the Orsha Linen Mill and the Brest Stocking Mill, joined the meeting via videoconference.

The sides discussed issues of expanding trade and raw material cooperation, establishing joint ventures, processing textile raw materials and manufacturing finished products, as well as exchanging technologies and expertise.

Particular attention was paid to the transition from traditional trade to industrial cooperation and the creation of joint production sites. The participants noted the opportunities for combining the technological potential of Belarusian enterprises with the raw material base of the Samarkand region to access the markets of Uzbekistan, Belarus and third countries.

Following the dialogue, the sides agreed to formulate a step-by-step joint action plan, intensify the work of relevant expert groups, and commence a detailed elaboration of substantive cooperation projects, the first results of which are scheduled to be reviewed in the near future.

Leadership of the Samarkand region confirmed its readiness to support their implementation at all stages.
