Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with Lesotho

NEW YORK, March 28. /Dunyo IA/. On March 27, 2026, a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Lesotho was signed in New York City, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Kingdom of Lesotho has become the 166th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.

On behalf of the governments of the two countries, the document was signed by Ulugbek Lapasov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN and Matete Nena, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United Nations.

During the conversation, the parties noted the importance of strengthening close interaction within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.

An agreement was reached to maintain bilateral contacts to identify mutually beneficial areas for cooperation, primarily in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The signing of the document marks another step toward expanding Uzbekistan's comprehensive cooperation with the countries of the African continent.

As a reminder, on September 26, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov and Minister of State of Palau Gustav Aitaro, signed a Joint Communiqué in New York City on the establishment of diplomatic relations. The archipelago state in the western Pacific Ocean became the 165th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.
