Madrid discusses prospects for expanding Uzbekistan's cooperation with one of the largest Spanish Engineering and Consulting Companies

MADRID, July 14. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Farrukh Tursunov visited the Madrid office of IDOM, one of the largest Spanish engineering and consulting companies, reports Dunyo IA correspondents.
Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were held with the leadership of the company, represented by Vice President for International Cooperation Tomas Gonzalez, Managing Director Juan Ramon Lopez, and Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia Dmitry Avdeev, dedicated to the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation and implementing joint projects in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, IDOM representatives presented the portfolio of projects being implemented in our country and confirmed their long-term interest in the further development of activities in the Uzbek market.
Particular attention was paid to the ongoing projects in Uzbekistan aimed at developing master plans for the Samarkand region and the regions of Karakalpakstan. These plans provide for integrated territorial planning, the determination of priority sectors for socio-economic development, the improvement of transport and engineering infrastructure, and the creation of favourable conditions for attracting investments and ensuring sustainable regional development. The component involving the creation of a digital twin of the region - comprising a 3D model of the territory, a unified database of the engineering infrastructure, and a modern GIS platform is of particular interest.
In addition, the successful implementation of the project by the company to develop the detailed engineering for the 1500 MW Syrdarya combined-cycle gas turbine power plant was highlighted.
The leadership of IDOM also expressed interest in developing promising projects in the field of digitalization of water supply systems and modern greenhouse complexes. The parties agreed to explore the possibilities of applying advanced Spanish engineering and digital solutions to improve the efficiency of water resources management and introduce smart technologies.
During an in-depth exchange of views, parties discussed the prospects for IDOM's further participation in the implementation of large-scale modernization and spatial development programs in Uzbekistan. Company's leadership noted the reforms being carried out in the country, emphasizing the consistent improvement of the investment climate, openness to international cooperation, and the long-term nature of state policy in the field of infrastructural development. IDOM representatives stated that they view Uzbekistan as one of their strategic partners in Central Asia and are interested in expanding their presence in the Uzbek market, including through the opening of a registered company office in the republic.
Ambassador Farrukh Tursunov, for his part, noted that the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain remains fully prepared to continue providing comprehensive assistance to Spanish companies interested in implementing investment and infrastructure projects in our country, as well as to facilitate the establishment of direct contacts with relevant ministries and agencies.
Following the meeting, the leadership of IDOM announced its intention to visit Uzbekistan in the autumn of this year to hold substantive talks with state authorities and further elaborate on promising areas of cooperation.
