Uzbekistan recognizes Best Chess Players following 2025 results

ТASHKENT, January 12. /Dunyo IA/.  Uzbekistan has reviewed the results of the development of chess and the performances of domestic athletes in the international arena for 2025, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, Javokhir Sindarov, the winner of the 2025 FIDE World Cup, was named Uzbekistan’s Chess Player of the Year following the results of the season.

The title of “Women’s Chess Player of the Year” was awarded to Umida Omonova, one of the leading members of the national women’s team, who demonstrated consistent and high-performing play throughout the season.

The event also featured an awards ceremony honouring chess players, coaches, and specialists who made a significant contribution to the development of the sport. Winners were selected in several categories, including junior players under the age of 12 and under 20, para-chess athletes, veterans, as well as best referees, analysts, and commentators.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, it was emphasized that the achievements of Uzbek chess players, their successful performances at international tournaments and their active role in promoting intellectual sports reflect the consistent and sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s chess school.
