• 210KUALA LUMPUR, January 31. /Dunyo IA/. A roadshow highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, particularly in the field of pilgrimage tourism, was held in the Malaysian capital, reports Dunyo News Agency correspondent reports.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Malaysian Association of Travel Agents, representatives of tour operators, and local media outlets. Opening the meeting, Begzod Murodullaev from the Tourism Committee highlighted the country’s recent achievements in developing pilgrimage tourism and presented new routes and tourist destinations.
Particular attention was drawn to Uzbekistan’s recognition by the international organization Asia Records, which registers and acknowledges records and achievements across various fields in Asia and Southeast Asia. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the organization recognized Uzbekistan for the first time as the Asian country with the highest number of Islamic shrines and historic cities - Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shakhrisabz included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A special diploma was awarded to representatives of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee.
During the roadshow, Uzbek travel companies showcased ready-made pilgrimage routes and packages under the “Umrah Plus” program. Representatives of Uzbekistan Airways presented new opportunities and conveniences for passengers from Malaysia, including direct flights and smooth transfer options.
