• 155ZHENGZHOU, April 14. /Dunyo IA/. As part of a press tour, a delegation of journalists from Uzbekistan visited the production facilities of the Chinese company “BYD” in the city of Zhengzhou, Henan Province, reports Dunyo IA correspondent from the scene.
During the visit, participants learned about the activities of one of the world's largest manufacturers of electric vehicles and battery technologies. The company's headquarters is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province and the corporation itself operates in the fields of automotive manufacturing, electronics, new energy and rail transport.
Company representatives noted that “BYD” began its operations with battery production and is currently one of the industry leaders alongside “Tesla”, also serving as a battery supplier for major international automakers, including “Tesla”.
At the end of last year, the company ranked 91st in the “Fortune Global 500 list”.
Journalists were shown the world's largest hybrid vehicle manufacturing plant, spanning approximately 10 square kilometres (1,000 hectares). The Zhengzhou facility employs around 60,000 people, making it one of the region's key employers.
Factory representatives emphasized that the production is fully automated: core operations are performed by robots behind protective glass enclosures, ensuring employee safety. The facility operates on a 24/7 basis.
The delegation was particularly impressed by the high level of production efficiency: the plant produces up to 3,000 vehicles daily, with a new car coming off the assembly line every 50 seconds.
The company is actively expanding its international presence, exporting products to South America, Europe, Africa, Southeast and Central Asia.
Of particular significance to the Uzbek side is BYD's entry into the Uzbekistan market in 2023. In December 2022, an agreement was signed with the local automaker “UzAuto”. In January 2024, the joint venture in the Jizzakh region began mass production of new energy vehicles, including the “Song”, “Destroyer” and other models. It was emphasized that this is BYD's first factory in Central Asia. As of 2025, the total volume of deliveries to Central Asian countries has exceeded 40,000 vehicles, with a localization level of approximately 30%.
The visit to the facility served as a vital element of the press tour program, allowing journalists from Uzbekistan to witness firsthand the advanced industrial technologies and the massive scale of modern automotive manufacturing, as well as to evaluate the prospects for further development of Uzbek-Chinese cooperation in high-tech and industrial sectors.
