“Otra lectura”: Uzbekistan and Spain strengthen bilateral investment partnership

MADRID, March 11. /Dunyo IA/. The Spanish analytical news portal “Otra lectura” has published an article on the expansion of investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Spain, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The article focuses on the “Uzbekistan - Spain” Business Forum held in Madrid. The forum served as a platform to discuss prospects for trade and economic cooperation and to establish connections between the business communities of the two countries.

“The event was attended by representatives of businesses, government bodies and companies. Participants were presented with Uzbekistan’s investment and export potential as well as meetings were organized in B2B format between representatives of the business circles”, - publication notes.

“Otra lectura” notes that the forum was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Spain, Farrukh Tursunov, who stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.

During the opening ceremony, Foreign Minister Munira Aminova's advisor read out the message of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov.

On the Spanish side, the participants were welcomed by the Deputy Director General for Europe, Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise of Spain, Laura Jarillo and the International Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Micaela Picaso, who underlined the interest of Spanish business in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan.

The article emphasizes that participants were introduced to the country's investment and industrial potential, including ongoing reforms to improve the business climate, develop industrial zones and create favourable conditions for foreign investors.

Special attention was given to the investment opportunities in Samarkand, Tashkent, and Andijan regions, as well as the potential of the agro-industrial complex.

The article notes that Spanish business also showed interest in projects related to modernizing transport infrastructure, implementing environmental technologies, waste processing, developing electric transport and digital communication systems.

Following the forum, negotiations were held between companies from both countries, resulting in the signing of four cooperation agreements and an export contract for the supply of dried fruits, legumes, nuts and other food products from Uzbekistan to Spain.

In conclusion, “Otra Lectura” emphasizes that the forum represented another step toward expanding economic ties and strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and Spain.
