Alisher Navoi Monument in Osh becomes a new symbol of Uzbek–Kyrgyz friendship

• 625OSH, December 14. /Dunyo IA/. A ceremony was held in the city of Osh to inaugurate a monument and an avenue dedicated to the great Uzbek poet, thinker, and statesman Alisher Navoi, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The Uzbek delegation received a ceremonial welcome at the Dostuk border crossing on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border by Askarali Madaminov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan; Ilyaz Tashbaev, First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in Osh region; Osh city mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev and other officials.
The event brought together a delegation from Uzbekistan, including representatives from the Andijan regional administration, the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, the Alisher Navoi University of Uzbek Language and Literature and the Uzbek Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Saidikram Niyazkhodzhaev.
The opening ceremony was attended by Amankan Kenzhebayev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan in Osh region, regional and city officials, representatives of various state bodies and public organizations, journalists, and local community leaders.
The event commenced with the unveiling of Alisher Navoi’s monument and a wreath-laying ceremony at its base, followed by performances from Uzbek and Kyrgyz artists. During the ceremony, the Presidential Decree of Uzbekistan was read, awarding the Mayor of Osh, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, with the “Dustlik” Order for his significant contribution to strengthening the eternal friendship between the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples. Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, officially presented the award.
Mayor Toktorbaev expressed deep gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek people for recognizing his work in Osh over the past year and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the historical brotherly ties and cooperation between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Ozodbek Nazarbekov also presented letters of appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan to the team of specialists actively involved in the development and inauguration of the avenue and monument.
In addition, Ambassador Saidikram Niyazkhodzhaev officially presented a certificate appointing Abdulladir Aliev, Chairman of the Public Association of Tourist Enterprises “Destination Osh” as the Uzbek Tourism Brand Ambassador in Kyrgyzstan.
The opening of the Alisher Navoi avenue and monument in Osh received significant attention across Kyrgyzstan and was widely covered in both central and local media outlets.
Earlier, on July 4, 2025, a monument to Alisher Navoi had also been unveiled in Navoi Park in Osh, celebrating the legacy of the great thinker, poet and statesman.
