Statistics: Uzbekistan and Japan rapidly expand tourist exchanges

TASHKENT, December 22. /Dunyo IA/. A significant increase in mutual tourist travel between Uzbekistan and Japan has been recorded in 2025, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the National Statistics Committee, from January to November of this year, there has been a significant increase in tourist interest between citizens of the two countries.
During this period, a total of 2.7 thousand citizens of Uzbekistan visited Japan for tourism purposes. This figure increased by 16.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. During the first 11 months of the year, the breakdown of travel purposes shows that tourism was the predominant purpose, accounting for 2.2 thousand visitors. In addition, 294 people traveled for visiting relatives, 137 people for education, 58 people for official purposes, and 4 people for medical treatment.
At the same time, nearly 30 thousand Japanese citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes. The number of Japanese tourists increased by 41.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
In terms of travel purposes, tourism accounted for the largest share, totaling 27.6 thousand visitors. Furthermore, 1.5 thousand people visited relatives, 784 people traveled for official purposes, 71 people for education, and 1 person for commercial purposes.
Overall, the trend in reciprocal travel reflects the strengthening of humanitarian ties, a growing interest in the cultural heritage of both countries, and increased effectiveness of joint initiatives in the tourism sector.
