BRUSSELS, December 24. /Dunyo IA/. A feature article by António Buscardini, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of the Belgian travel publication “Travel Tomorrow”, highlights the dynamic growth of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The article notes that Uzbekistan has officially joined the ranks of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world, confirming its rapid rise on the global tourism map. According to the latest analytical data from “UN Tourism”, the country ranked among the top seven global destinations in terms of growth in international tourist arrivals from January to September 2025.
Statistics indicate that the number of international visitors to Uzbekistan increased by 73% compared to the same period in 2019, placing the country among the few destinations with exceptional post-pandemic growth. Only a handful of countries recorded higher growth: Bhutan (203%), Qatar (138%), El Salvador (88%), Albania (83%) and Bahrain (76%).
“UN Tourism” described Uzbekistan’s performance as a clear demonstration not only of recovery but of active expansion in the tourism sector, identifying the country as one of the most dynamically developing tourist markets globally.
The article highlights that starting from April 2025, the monthly number of international arrivals exceeded one million for the first time, reflecting a structural change in demand rather than a temporary surge. Tourism revenues have also shown steady growth, with earnings from the export of tourism services surpassing $4.4 billion.
Buscardini emphasizes that the growth of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector is the result of a combination of comprehensive reforms and sustained investments. Visa liberalization has simplified travel for citizens of many countries, while improvements in aviation connectivity and transport infrastructure have enhanced accessibility.
“Uzbekistan has outlined an ambitious yet balanced tourism development strategy for the coming years. By 2030, the country plans to host up to 15 million tourists annually, while simultaneously preserving UNESCO World Heritage sites and the natural environment. With sustainable growth rates, expanding infrastructure and a focus on sustainable development, Uzbekistan is well-positioned to consolidate and maintain its status as one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world”, - concludes António Buscardini.
