BEIJING, May 10. /Dunyo IA/. On the occasion of May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China organized a festive cultural event in Beijing with the participation of compatriots living in the country, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was held under the motto “National unity and solidarity are the greatest strength and wealth.” It brought together students of Chinese universities, as well as Uzbek citizens working or temporarily residing in China.

The national anthem of Uzbekistan was performed at the beginning of the event.

Participants were briefed on large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as on the country’s state policy toward youth and compatriots abroad. It was emphasized that citizens living overseas are encouraged to actively contribute to ongoing reform processes in the country.

It was also noted that one of the key tasks of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in China is to protect the rights and interests of compatriots and provide them with comprehensive support.

Speakers highlighted that the current year is dedicated to preparations for the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence under the idea of building “A single Motherland, a single people, creating a new life and future!”

Special attention was given to youth policy and sports development, which, according to officials, is enabling Uzbek youth to achieve significant success on the international stage.

The event also featured a friendly football tournament among compatriots, along with traditional Uzbek cuisine, music, and cultural performances.

Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed responses.

Olimjon Obidov, PhD candidate at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences:

— First of all, I sincerely congratulate all compatriots on May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor. This is an important date for our nation.

The Embassy regularly organizes cultural events for Uzbeks living in China. Today we gathered once again and celebrated this holiday on a wide scale.

I am glad to have taken part in the sports competitions. Such events unite us and allow us to feel the spirit of the homeland once again.

We constantly feel the state’s attention to youth. It is encouraging that Uzbek young people are achieving success in various fields.

Abdurashid Asrorov, student at Beijing Information Technology College:

— I am very happy to have participated in the cultural event organized by the Embassy on the occasion of May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor.

We gathered here with compatriots and discussed the latest news from our country. We also enjoyed national songs and traditional dishes.

The football tournament took place in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere, and the winners were awarded prizes.

I sincerely congratulate all compatriots on this important holiday.
