French entrepreneurs call for cooperation with Uzbekistan

PARIS, 12 May. /IA "Dunyo"/. Representatives of French business circles published posts on their pages on social networks about the prospects for business cooperation with Uzbekistan, a Dunyo news agency correspondent reports.

These posts were made following the visit of the economic delegation of France to our country to participate in the regular meeting of the bilateral commission on trade and economic cooperation, which took place on May 5 this year.

Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Citizens Abroad Olivier Beshte wrote: “Last November, President Emmanuel Macron and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Paris stated that they wish to promote the development of a high-level global partnership between Uzbekistan and France. In economic terms, France and Uzbekistan share the desire to strengthen cooperation and establish new partnerships.”

Olivier Besht writes that the Uzbek-French cooperation has a great future, and it is already gaining momentum.

“In November last year, more than 30 agreements were signed between our countries for a total of 5 billion euros,” he states. The France-Uzbekistan forum organized during the same period was a great success. Many French companies are present in Uzbekistan, especially in key sectors such as urban services. These are Veolia, SUEZ, EDF, Total Eren, Voltalia, Orano, Airbus, ATR, Alstom and others.”

The author writes that during the visit to Uzbekistan of the French delegation, which he headed, bilateral agreements were signed on the joint development of the future ski resort in Chimgan, a memorandum of understanding with the Eiffage company, memorandums of understanding with the French Institute of Textiles and Clothing, as well as with French ITK.

“These agreements and contracts are the result of our common desire to create new partnerships. I tell our companies: Uzbekistan is a promising market, export there,” the author sums up.

Adela Tua, a representative of Eiffage, in turn noted on her page: “During the 9th meeting of the joint French-Uzbek commission in Tashkent, a cooperation agreement was signed between Eiffage Génie Civil and Uzsuvtaminot. As part of the project to modernize the drinking water supply system in the Kashkadarya region, Eiffage will complete two lots: the rehabilitation of wells in Yakkabog and a water conduit in Karshi.

This project, with a strong social and environmental impact, will provide drinking water to the capital of the region, reduce operating costs, reduce energy consumption and, above all, reduce water losses in Uzbekistan, where water shortage is high. This project will also allow Eiffage to establish itself in a new country and develop its activities there.”

Xavier Gallo-Lavalle, founder and CEO of MND Group, also wrote: “I had the honor to visit Uzbekistan with Olivier Besht. During the visit, an agreement was signed on the development of the future Chimgan mountain resort.

This moment marks the beginning of this historic project, a symbol of cooperation between our two countries and a future demonstration of the know-how of MadeintheAlps and the MND team in Central Asia.

Once again, I would like to thank the French government, which, through the Treasury, is supporting this magnificent and beautiful four-season project.”
