DUSHANBE, October 10. /Dunyo IA/. Viktor Kim, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, in an interview with Dunyo IA, commented on the outcomes of the working visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan on October 7–9th:
- The eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, held on October 8th in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan, has definitively concluded the discussions regarding the prospects of this format. Before us is a genuinely new and promising emerging macro-region, where a balance is maintained between the sovereign interests of the “five”, into which Azerbaijan has harmoniously integrated as a strategic bridge between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
This is not merely an expansion of geography, but a solid linking of Central Asia to the trans-Caspian bridge and logistics corridors, bypassing traditional Eurasian deadlocks.
Substantive core and strategic vector continue to be set by Tashkent. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has once again demonstrated that the region has achieved sustainable development and is transitioning from simple trade to industrial cooperation - toward the formula of “six economies, one product”, which should become a common goal and guidelines for all participants. It is of fundamental importance that Uzbekistan remains faithful to its original stance: to prevent excessive bureaucratization and the creation of administrative superstructures. The format must remain flexible and coherent, without cumbersome supranational institutions.
A logical continuation of this line was the positioning of the region as a space of security and trust. This is evidenced by the initiative of the Head of Uzbekistan to hold an international conference in Tashkent in 2027 entitled “Interregional Dialogue for Peace and Sustainable Connectivity: The Central Asian Approach”.
Positive assessment of the outcomes of the Consultative Meeting by all participants confirms the primary vector for the further development of the new configuration of the Eurasian space. Central Asia and its partners confidently assert themselves as a space of security and trust, as well as a reliable Eurasian crossroads in the “North-South” and “East-West” directions.”
