MADRID, May 10. /Dunyo IA/. An international conference dedicated to the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur was held at the Casa Árabe cultural center in Madrid, Spain, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Spanish publication “El Mundo Financiero”.

The forum brought together representatives from Uzbekistan, Spain, and other countries, including Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Farrukh Tursunov, Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan Khayriddin Sultanov, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization Firdavs Abdukhalikov, and Director of the State Museum of Temurid History Khurshid Fayziev, as well as Spanish writers, researchers, and cultural figures.

The event formed part of an international program marking the anniversary of Amir Temur, which is being celebrated at both national and international levels on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Major academic conferences have already been held in Tashkent and Samarkand.

The Madrid conference was noted for its symbolic importance, taking place in Spain, home to chronicler Ruy González de Clavijo, who documented Amir Temur’s empire. More than 70 experts, diplomats, and researchers from Europe, Asia, and Latin America participated.

Discussions focused on the role of the Temurid civilization in world history, its contributions to science, culture, and statehood, as well as the work of Uzbekistan’s Center for Islamic Civilization. Participants were also informed about the repatriation of around 2,000 cultural heritage objects, many linked to the Temurid era.

Speakers emphasized the growing global interest in Amir Temur’s legacy and the importance of strengthening international cultural and academic cooperation. They noted that such events help promote the historical and cultural heritage of Central Asia on a global scale.
