Senator of Uzbekistan participates in elections of Deputies to the Kurultai of Kazakhstan as an International Observer

TASHKENT, August 25. /Dunyo IA/. Kutbidin Burkhanov, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Defense and Security, participated as part of the Commonwealth of Independent States Interparliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA) international observer mission in the inaugural elections of deputies to the Kurultai of Kazakhstan, held on August 23rd of this year, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the Information Service of the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis, senator familiarized himself with the preparations for and conduct of the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, visited a number of polling stations on election day and directly observed the voting process.
During the observation, particular attention was paid to the activities of election commissions, the organization of the electoral process in accordance with established procedures, the opportunities created for voters, as well as ensuring the necessary conditions for citizens with disabilities to exercise their electoral rights.
Results of the observation showed that the electoral process was organized based on the principles of openness, transparency and democracy, in accordance with the requirements of the legislation, and that the necessary conditions were created for citizens to freely exercise their constitutional electoral rights.
Elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan are an important stage of the large-scale constitutional and political reforms being carried out in the country. The new unicameral parliamentary model will contribute to further improving Kazakhstan’s political system, strengthening democratic governance, ensuring effective legislative support for consistent reforms and promoting the country’s sustainable development.
It should be recalled that the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the President of Kazakhstan by telephone on the successful holding of the elections to the Kurultai.
