Kazakhstan Announces Preliminary Results of Kurultai Elections

ASTANA, August 24. /Dunyo IA/. Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission has announced the preliminary results of the August 23 elections for legislators of the Kurultai, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing “Kazinform.”

CEC Secretary Shavkhat Utemisov said 12,623,289 people were registered to vote. A total of 9,351,539 citizens took part in the election, with preliminary voter turnout standing at 74.08%.

According to the preliminary results, the “Adilet” party is leading with 6,528,948 votes, or 71.17%.

The “Nationwide Social Democratic Party” received 469,058 votes (5.11%), while the “Auyl” party received 574,621 votes (6.26%) and “Respublica” received 509,631 votes (5.56%).

The “Democratic Party of Kazakhstan”, “Ak Zhol”, received 478,083 votes, or 5.21%. The “People’s Party of Kazakhstan” received 285,395 votes (3.11%). The “Baitak Green Party’ received 97,751 votes, or 1.07%.

In addition, 2.51% of voters voted against all candidates.
