RIGA, September 15. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riga organized a videoconference featuring the Rector of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, Ülle Jaakma and representatives from the Central Asian University for Environmental Studies and Climate Change – Green University, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the negotiations, the sides discussed the current status of scientific research in the fields of climate change and ecology, opportunities for the expansion of cooperation, as well as prospective areas for interaction.

During the dialogue, it was specifically emphasized that the “Green University” project serves as a logical continuation of the large-scale efforts undertaken in Uzbekistan to radically reform the education system, develop ties with foreign higher education institutions, and increase the influx of international students.

Estonian side expressed keen interest in developing cooperation with the Green University and readiness to share its expertise in such areas as student and faculty exchange, the creation of joint research groups in the fields of climate change and the circular economy, as well as the establishment of a UNESCO Chair database.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a comprehensive online webinar in September with the aim of translating cooperation between the higher education institutions into a practical dimension.

Estonian University of Life Sciences is one of the leading higher education institutions in the country, specializing in agriculture, forestry, environmental protection and veterinary medicine. According to the QS World University Rankings, the university ranks 43^rd globally in “Agriculture and Forestry” and stands among the most highly cited scientific institutions in the fields of plant science and ecology research.
