STOCKHOLM, March 26. /Dunyo IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan, together with the Uzbek Cultural Center in Sweden, organized a concert and reception in celebration of Navruz, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
More than 300 compatriots living in various regions of Sweden and working on temporary contracts participated in the event.
The performance by popular Uzbek singers Sherzod Irgashev and Mustafa (Zokhid Yusupov), along with singers and musicians from the national musical ensemble "Xalqlar do’stligi", brought the guests an authentic festive atmosphere.
The event also featured games, readings, and exhibitions reflecting national culture.
Zilola Yulchiyeva, Head of the Uzbek Cultural Center in Sweden:
- Today, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the National Cultural Center, and our numerous compatriots, we organized a wonderful event dedicated to the celebration of Navruz. Famous singers from Uzbekistan joined us. Such events unite our compatriots, bring them closer together, and provide the young generation of Europeans an opportunity to get acquainted with our culture, traditions, and values.
As part of our celebration, we also marked the 150th anniversary of the birth of our fellow countryman, one of the founders of the Jadid movement and a progressive educator, Mahmudkhuja Behbudi. We also organized a special exhibition for young children.
Isroil Gulyamov, Director of the "Xalqlar do’stligi" Palace of Arts:
- We are pleased that the guests of the event expressed their gratitude for the concert program and reception and happily participated in them. Moving forward, we will organize more such events, including meetings with compatriots. Together with the Embassy, we plan to hold a football tournament in June 2025, present a concert program on the occasion of Independence Day in September, and mark Constitution Day in December.
We welcome the support of the Head of state in working with our compatriots, as it strengthens not only faith in the future but also the unity of all Uzbeks abroad.
