LONDON, October 8. /Dunyo IA/.   A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with Dominic Lester, the EMEA Head of Investment Banking at the transnational investment banking company “Jefferies”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Parties discussed expanding Uzbekistan’s presence in global capital markets, attracting foreign investments and enhancing the country’s investment attractiveness.

Dominic Lester noted the positive assessment by international market participants of the IPO of the National Investment Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“UzNIF”) on the London Stock Exchange. According to him, the deal contributes to the growth of interest from foreign investors in Uzbekistan and increases the awareness of the international financial community about the country’s investment opportunities.

The significance of state support for the successful IPO of “UzNIF” was separately highlighted, which, as the meeting participants emphasized, creates a solid foundation for other Uzbek companies to enter international stock exchanges.

Uzbek side informed the representatives of “Jefferies” about measures being implemented to develop cooperation with international capital markets, improve mechanisms for attracting investments, and further improve the investment climate.

In particular, the parties discussed the ongoing work on the creation of the Tashkent International Financial Centre (TIFC), which is designed to contribute to the country’s development as a regional financial hub, expand opportunities for international investors, and accelerate the integration of Uzbekistan into global capital markets.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue on the development of cooperation in the field of finance and capital markets, the expansion of contacts with international investors, and supporting the entry of Uzbek companies into foreign markets.
