SAMARKAND, September 6. /Dunyo IA/.  A Member of the Parliament of Uruguay and Board Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Forum of Young Parliamentarians Julieta Sierra, in an exclusive interview with a Dunyo IA correspondent, shared her insights on the significance of the 12^th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians taking place in Samarkand under the theme “Reclaiming human rights, justice and dignity for all in turbulent times”, as well as on the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening parliamentarism:

- It is critically important for us, as young parliamentarians, to convene, particularly at a juncture when the world is experiencing an unprecedentedly high level of uncertainty. We observe the expansion of conflict zones; however, even in nations spared from direct conflict, the youth remain among the first to confront the far-reaching consequences of the global crisis.

Young people experience profound challenges regarding employment and economic independence, while simultaneously confronting barriers to housing accessibility and an escalating burden on mental health. When we deliberate on these matters within our respective nations, we realize that in many instances, we are addressing challenges that extend far beyond national borders and are universally shared by youth worldwide.

It is precisely for this reason that the opportunity to convene here in Samarkand, exchange institutional experiences, and collaboratively seek policy solutions carries profound significance. We are able to discuss both the issues common to diverse nations and those with distinct regional specificities. Such a dialogue enables us to cultivate deeper mutual understanding and forge highly effective approaches to the formulation of state public policy.

It is of paramount importance that the most vulnerable segments of the youth remains at the very center of this process - specifically young people from low-income backgrounds, who frequently lack the opportunities accessible to the rest of society. If we truly aspire to forge a more equitable world, we must ensure equal access for youth to quality education, decent work, economic empowerment and meaningful participation in public and political life.

Crucially, however, our deliberations must not conclude within the walls of this conference. We must return to our respective nations equipped with tangible ideas and policy solutions and subsequently assume responsibility for their implementation. This is precisely where the practical value of such gatherings lies: not merely in debating existing challenges, but in determining what concrete actions we can undertake upon returning home.
