BUDAPEST, August 25. /Dunyo IA/. Hungarian online publication “Daily News Hungary” published an article entitled “SCO and Water Diplomacy: In Pursuit of Common Interests” focusing on cooperation among countries in the field of water resources, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

It notes that within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, increasing attention is being paid to the rational use of water resources and the development of water diplomacy.

Publication notes that on April 3^rd, representatives of the SCO countries discussed climate change, glacier preservation and water resource management in Bishkek. On August 7^th, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan reviewed reservoir operating regimes in the SyrDarya and AmuDarya basins.

In Uzbekistan, the introduction of water-saving technologies in 2025 made it possible to save 3 billion cubic meters of water. By the end of 2026, these technologies are planned to be introduced across 3.1 million hectares, with 5 billion cubic meters of water to be saved.

Country is also advancing the digitalization of water management: 44 sensors have been installed at reservoirs to remotely monitor water levels and volumes.
