BERLIN, August 24. /Dunyo IA/.  German online publication “News Mark” has published an article on Uzbekistan’s “Yashil Makon” program and afforestation efforts in the Aral Sea region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article’s author, Christian Grosse, notes that the dried seabed of the Aral Sea remains a source of sand, salt and dust storms that pose a threat to the population and infrastructure. In this regard, planting sexual is viewed not only as an environmental restoration measure, but also as a means of protecting transport infrastructure along the Middle Corridor.

According to the publication, the area covered by protective green plantations in the Aral Sea region has already exceeded 2 million hectares. Under the “Yashil Makon” program, launched in 2021, Uzbekistan plans to plant 1 billion trees and shrubs over a five-year period.

Publication also highlights the introduction of digital monitoring: more than 605,000 trees have been provided with digital passports. At the same time, Uzbekistan is cooperating with Germany on combating desertification and studying sexual species that are resilient to climate change.
