“Daily The Spokesman”: Contemporary stage of Uzbek-Belarusian relations is characterized by a steady positive dynamic

ISLAMABAD, July 9. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani newspaper “Daily The Spokesman” has published an article by the Dunyo Information Agency dedicated to strengthening the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus based on mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that the contemporary stage of Uzbek-Belarusian relations is characterized by a steady positive dynamic and the consistent expansion of cooperation across a broad spectrum of dimensions.

As reported in the article, diplomatic relations between the two states were established on January 21, 1993. The Embassy of Belarus in Tashkent has been operating since February 1994, while the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Minsk was established in October 2017 and commenced full-scale operations in March 2018. Over the past years, the parties have established a substantial legal framework and accumulated significant experience of interaction in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

It is emphasized that the legal framework of Uzbek-Belarusian cooperation encompasses virtually all dimensions of bilateral interaction. To date, 126 bilateral documents have been signed between Uzbekistan and Belarus, regulating cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, industrial cooperation, transport, education, culture, science, healthcare and interregional interaction.

“Daily The Spokesman” writes that foundational document is the Treaty on the Principles of Interstate Relations, signed in Tashkent on November 6th, 1991, which serves as the legal bedrock for the development of the Uzbek-Belarusian partnership and reaffirms the parties' commitment to the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect and consideration of mutual interests.

Particular attention is dedicated to the political dialogue, which remains the cornerstone of the Uzbek-Belarusian partnership. Regular contacts at the highest and senior levels contribute to the strengthening of mutual trust and the consistent development of bilateral relations.

Article notes that between 1991 and 2026, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, visited Uzbekistan six times, including official visits in 1994, 2018, and 2024. A vital milestone in the development of bilateral cooperation was also marked by the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus, which took place from July 31st to August 1st, 2019.

In conclusion, the publication emphasizes that Uzbek-Belarusian relations are distinguished by sustainable development. High level of political dialogue, the expansion of trade-economic cooperation and the advancement of interregional ties and humanitarian interaction create a solid foundation for the further strengthening of a multifaceted partnership that meets the long-term interests of both states.
